In the production of products such as capacitive touch screens and car display modules, the bonding process directly determines the yield and quality of the products. Vacuum bonding machines (represented by SCA vacuum bonding machines) and ordinary bonding machines, as mainstream equipment, have completely different application scenarios and bonding effects due to differences in working principles and performance advantages. Clarifying the difference between the two can help companies select appropriate equipment and improve production efficiency, especially in the production of high-precision and large-sized products, where selecting suitable equipment is particularly crucial.
The working principle and core structure are the fundamental differences between the two. Ordinary laminating machines adopt atmospheric pressure laminating mode, relying on mechanical pressure to press two layers of substrates together. There is no vacuum sealing structure, and only simple pressure rollers or molds are used to apply pressure, which cannot exhaust the air between the substrates. The structure is relatively simple and is mostly operated manually or semi-automatic at a single station. The SCA vacuum bonding machine is based on the SCA optical adhesive bonding process and is equipped with a sealed vacuum chamber. Then, the cylinder drives the mold to apply uniform pressure, combined with hot pressing technology to achieve bonding. It can also be equipped with automatic feeding, CCD visual positioning and other structures, with a higher degree of automation.
The difference between the bonding effect and product yield is significant. Due to the lack of vacuum exhaust function, ordinary laminating machines are prone to problems such as bubbles, displacement, and delamination during lamination. Especially in the lamination of large-sized and high-precision products, the residual rate of bubbles is high, and the lamination accuracy error is often above ± 0.1mm. They are only suitable for low precision products without strict appearance requirements. The SCA vacuum bonding machine, with its vacuum environment and temperature and pressure control design, can effectively avoid the generation of bubbles, and the bonding accuracy can reach ± 0.05mm. The characteristics of SCA adhesive make the bonded products no overflow and easy to disassemble, with a yield rate of over 98%. It is suitable for products with high bonding quality requirements such as car mounted large screens and capacitive screens. The sealed chamber formed by the vacuum cylinder body and working platform further ensures bonding stability.
The gap between applicable scenarios and adaptability is significant. Ordinary laminating machines have a simple structure and low cost, mainly used for laminating small, flat, and low precision products, such as laminating ordinary films and plastic parts. They cannot adapt to curved surfaces, large sizes, or high-precision laminating needs, and have poor compatibility with laminating materials. The SCA vacuum bonding machine has stronger adaptability. It can not only handle flat bonding, but also adapt to curved substrates through a flexible pressure structure. When used with a large-sized automatic laminating machine, it can achieve bonding of large-sized car display modules. It is also compatible with various optical adhesives such as SCA and OCA, which can meet the production needs of products such as capacitive touch screens and LCM modules. It can also integrate high-pressure defoaming, UV curing and other processes to achieve production.
The difficulty of operation and production efficiency also vary. Ordinary laminating machines are easy to operate and quick to pick up, but they are mostly manually operated, resulting in low production efficiency and high proficiency requirements for operators, which can easily affect product quality due to operational errors. The SCA vacuum bonding machine has automatic control function, can preset bonding parameters, and is equipped with a slide type work platform to achieve automatic feeding and retrieving, greatly reducing manual intervention. The production efficiency is 3-5 times that of ordinary bonding machines, and the parameters can be adjusted to maintain stable bonding consistency, suitable for large-scale production.
In summary, ordinary laminating machines are suitable for low-cost and low precision basic laminating needs, while SCA vacuum laminating machines have become the core equipment for display product production due to their advantages in vacuum lamination, high precision, and high adaptability. Enterprises need to choose suitable equipment based on their product positioning, accuracy requirements, and production capacity needs in order to improve product quality and achieve increased production efficiency.
